About
Jonathan Kunz is a German lecturer, illustrator and comic artist.
Since 2011, he is responsible for War and Peas together with Elizabeth Pich. The webcomic has built a loyal followership and was nominated for the Lebensfenser-Preis of the Kurt-Schalker-Komitee in 2017.
Since 2014 he lectures classes in Communication Design at Hochschule der Bildenden Künste Saar. Since 2017 he is responsible for the master’s degree Comic / Graphic Novel within Communication Design. 2018 he was awarded with the Max und Moritz-Preis for Best Studential Publication at Internationaler Comic-Salon Erlangen for the anthology “Paradies” that he supervised and published.
From 2015 to 2019, he organized the annual Internationales Comic Symposium in Saarbrücken. Together with Joni Majer and Elizabeth Pich, he welcomed renowned artists like Barbara Yelin, Manuele Fior, Lasse Wandschneider or Anna Haifisch.
2017 the works of Jonathan Kunz were presented at the Landeskunstausstellung SaarART11 in the Museum Sankt Wendel.
In 2019 – together with Nathan Pyle – he headlined the Comic Con India in Hyderabad. The year after, the book “War and Peas: Funny Comics for Dirty Lovers” was released at Andrews McMeel Universal.
He has worked with and for Bündnis 90/Die Grünen, Regionalverband Saarbrücken, Testspiel.de, 1. FC Saarbrücken, JVA Ottweiler, Crap Magazine, Maksimovic Next, VSE, Theater Überzwerg, Saarlandmuseum, Ekkofestival, Quadral, JUKE!, Internazionale, Saarland Marketing, Toggl, Erasmus+, Kulturzentrum am EuroBahnhof, Zippo, Theaterverein Titania, Music Finland, BMW and many more.
